Knowing The Price
Hello, my friend and future millionaire.
Welcome to this episode of The Money Wheel.
My name is Don Shade.
I’d like to take a minute and share a story with you.
The other weekend, I went to a car show with my parents and there were a lot of street rods there.
There were also a lot of muscle cars and a couple of newer vehicles.
My dad and my uncle both have street rods and muscle cars, and I’m kind of lagging behind.
I was walking around this show and looking at all the vehicles.
I pretty much decided what I wanted.
I would like to have a ‘70 to ‘73 Camaro.
I want it to be somewhere between a four and a six speed.
I want knock-offs on the exhaust.
I want people to be able to hear me coming.
If I buy something like a ‘57 Chevy, I want a more laid back automatic, it’s a different class of car.
One thing I did learn from riding in my dad’s street rod is: those cars are too tight for me.
With me having cerebral palsy, I wouldn’t be able to work the pedals and drive the car as comfortably as I would like.
And before I lose your attention here, let me get to the point.
Some of you might be muscle car people and you’re thinking, ‘oh yeah, what you said was great’.
Well, if you’re not a car person, let me ask you this – Do you know your dream in that kind of detail?
Do you know exactly what you want?
Do you know exactly what it’s going to cost?
As we were walking through that show, there were a couple cars there that had for sale signs in them.
People build them exactly the way they want them, and when there’s nothing left to do on it, they get bored with it.
I want a turn key muscle car, which means I don’t have to do anything to it.
The price tag on that turnkey muscle car is probably going to be somewhere between 30 to $60,000, depending on what I buy.
When was the last time you sat down and looked at your dream and researched it and knew exactly what it was going to cost?
If you started making a thousand dollars a day profit on your online business, $30,000 a month, would you start shopping for another house?
Would you look at ‘what does it take to make the changes that I need so I can have this property?’.
Or ‘what has to happen (as far as), am I going to level this house?’.
‘Am I going to build a brand new one?’
‘Do I want to live in a totally different neighborhood?’
‘What does my dream car look like?’
‘How much does it cost?’
What are some other changes I would make in my life?
One of the things that I want you to start becoming aware of is exactly what your dream is going to cost and the financial goals that you’re going to have to get, to be able to go out and buy that dream and be okay with the money you spent.
And I know there’s a group of you out there that are saying, ‘I would never spend 50 or $60,000 to buy an old car like that’.
Well, it’s not your dream.
Maybe something else is your dream.
Would you spend the money it takes to buy a motorhome, if you wanted to travel?
It doesn’t matter what the dream is.
The part that matters here, and the point I’m trying to get to is: you need to know exactly what it costs.
If you were to walk on a car lot tomorrow and pick the car you wanted without knowing the price tag, would you be able to afford it?
Are you looking to build a business to make those kinds of changes in your life?
Once again, this is just stuff I wanted to tell you to make you think.
And the reason I share the story about the car show is because there are a lot of people out there where cars are a hot button and I’m one of those people.
So I know exactly what it costs for the vehicles that I want.
Whatever your hot button is, whether it’s buying another house, or maybe it’s the price of your freedom: Do you know exactly what kind of money you need to make on a monthly basis so that you can walk away from a job comfortably without having to worry?
This is just something to make them think.
That’s everything I have for today’s episode of The Money Wheel.
